WHO WE SUPPORT
OneWorld issues an annual grant to the National Rowing Foundation that we designate for the benefit of athletes representing the U.S. in the Non-Olympic Boat Classes, which are boat categories competed at each year’s senior elite World Rowing Championships but not at the Olympic Games.
Currently, the Non-Olympic Boat Classes still competed annually at World Champs are the Women’s and Men’s Lightweight Single (L1x), Lightweight Pair (L2-), and Lightweight Quad (L4x):
OneWorld Rowing considers Non-Olympic Boat competitors to be the quintessential elite amateurs facing the widest gap between the international level at which they seek to race versus the low level of outside support they receive. The U.S. provides little funding for Non-Olympic Boat development and in fact charges these athletes a fee toward National Team’s costs of racing at World Champs.
OneWorld encourages the broadest possible U.S. representation at World Champs as a pinnacle achievement in the sport that best embodies our goal of expanded access to high-level racing:
OneWorld is grateful for the assistance of the National Rowing Foundation as intermediary administering OneWorld’s grants directly to the athletes or their training groups for use toward travel expenses and other costs of representing the U.S. at World Championships.
